The Council on Aging runs various senior programs. - Norwood – Home Delivery Service – Morrill Memorial Library
The library provides this service free of charge to Norwood residents who are unable to come to the library due to special needs, illness or disability. They can deliver specific books you have requested, or our librarians can select books for you matching your interests or favorite authors. Our extensive large print collection includes best-sellers as well as timeless classics. If you need a magnifier, they have them in varying sizes and magnification levels. They also have Books on CD as well as CD Players. Playaways can also be delivered, which are pre-loaded portable audio books, used with earphones. If you would like this service, if you know of someone who would, or if you are interested in becoming an outreach volunteer, please contact the library at 781-769-0200 x228.
- Norwood – Memory Cafe
The Norwood Memory Café is a welcoming place for individuals, families and friends of those living with memory changes. The Café gives people and their companions, a chance to share in a positive experience through laughter, companionship and socialization in a relaxed and safe environment. Come join us for conversation, refreshments, entertainment and activities in a carefree environment. The Café meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Senior Center, 275 Prospect Street, Norwood.

- Norwood – Senior Bowling
Senior Bowling every Thursday morning at the Norwood Sports Center at 9:30 AM. This is a mixed league and three strings are played for $6.00.

The Norwood Senior Center offers many legal, financial, recreational, medical and a host of activities including contract bridge, whist, cribbage, bingo, scrabble, exercise classes, oil painting, bus trips and so much more. The Norwood Senior Center offers varies senior fitness and exercise programs including Flex & Firm, Zumba, Tai Chi, Gentle Exercise, Aerobics, Yoga for Everyone (sit or stand class), Yoga w/Posture & Balance, Line Dancing, and Walking in the Gym. - Norwood – Senior Suppers
Norwood Hospital offers a Senior Supper Program consisting of soup, entrée and a drink in the cafeteria from Monday through Friday, served from 4:45 PM to 6:45 PM. The cost is $5.50.
- Norwood – Senior Taxi Transfare Program
The Town of Norwood offers subsidized taxi transportation for eligible Norwood residents. The Transfare Program has been in operation for over 32 years and has assisted thousands of Norwood citizens with their transportation needs. It is a great way to help senior citizens and others with an economical way to get to doctors' appointments and grocery shopping in Norwood. This program is administered through the Norwood Senior Center. Norwood Council on Aging offers a Senior Center Bus Route for Daily Shopping Trips. The Schedule is as follows: Pickups begin at 8:30 A.M. Monday - Local trips, Tuesday - Walmart (1st Tuesday of the month), Tuesday - Out of town trips are scheduled, see the Norwood COA Newsletter, Wednesday - Local trips, Thursday - The Big Y and the Dollar Store, Friday - Shaw’s Supermarket. Monday through Friday - medical appointments and transportation upon request by calling the front desk 24 hours prior to your pick up time at 781-762-1201, extension 6 for Transportation.
- Norwood – Serving the Health Information Needs of Everyone – SHINE
The SHINE (Serving the Health Information Needs of Everyone) Program provides health insurance information, assistance and counseling to Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and others who have questions about insurance and public benefit programs. SHINE Program staff and a network of certified volunteer counselors provide information about Medicare, Medigap, Mass Health, prescription drug programs, and other health assistance programs. Medicare plans change every year. SHINE can help review your Medicare options. Counseling and assistance is provided free of charge. Appointments are available every Tuesday from 10:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. and every Friday from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. Please call 781-762-1201 x5 to schedule an appointment.
