- Hingham – Council on Aging
The Higham Council on Aging serves in an advisory capacity to the Hingham Department of Elder Services. Elder Services provides programs, services, activities and transportation for all residents 60 years of age and older and serves as a resource for information to families, friends and neighbors who may find themselves caring for an older person.

Hingham Elder Services provides programs, services, activities and transportation for all residents 60 years of age and older and serves as a resource for information to families, friends and neighbors who may find themselves caring for an older person. Everyone is welcome at the Senior Center located at 224 Central Street and your participation is encouraged. The monthly newsletter, Central Times, provides current information about services, classes and other programs. Hingham residents may request to have the newsletter mailed to their home. Information about programs and services can also be obtained at the reception desk at the Hingham Senior Center.
- Hingham – Medical Rides – MAP
Door-to-door handicapped accessible transportation to Boston medical appointments. This service is free of charge and made possible through Title III-B funding under the Older Americans Act from South Shore Elder Services. Donations are encouraged to offset the cost of transportation. Please contact the Hingham Senior Center at 781-741-1458.
- Hingham – Memory Cafe
The Hingham Memory Cafe usually meets the 3rd Thursday of each month from 12:30 P.M. - 2:30 P.M. at the South Shore Conservatory, One Conservatory Drive, Hingham MA. The Memory Café is a social gathering where people with memory loss and their care partners can come together in a safe and supportive environment. Guests are invited to participate in activities designed for cognitive awareness, explore educational topics, join in creative arts, including music, dance, and art, and share refreshment and conversation with others. Monthly programming will be varied and will offer engaging, fun, and participatory experiences for all.
- Hingham – Senior Center Medical Rides
Door-to-door transportation Monday through Friday to local and surrounding area medical appointments between 8:30 A.M. and 2:30 P.M. Call the Hingham Senior Center at 781-741-1458 at least five working days ahead to make a reservation. Suggested donation: $5 for Hingham and abutting towns. $10 suggested donation for Quincy, Braintree, Hanover, and Scituate. Please inquire about other towns.
- Hingham – Senior Center Shuttle Van
Local rides for grocery shopping, library, and Hingham Senior Center. All rides need to be scheduled by noon the day before. The Senior Center tries to accommodate all requests for rides; however, there might be times when their schedule is full and they are unable to accommodate your request.

There are several support groups that meet regularly at the Hingham Senior Center and are open to anyone who might have an interest or need for this support. Support groups include the Parkinson’s Support Group, Blood Pressure Clinic, Reflexology (by appointment only. Cost: $30), Stroke Support Group, Vision Support Group, and Veterans Coffee Socials. - Hingham – Serving Health Information Needs of Everyone – SHINE
SHINE counselors provide free, unbiased health insurance counseling for Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers. SHINE counselors are trained by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. A SHINE Counselor is available on the 1st Thursday every month. Call the Hingham COA at 781-741-1458 to schedule an appointment. There is no cost for this service and all information is strictly confidential.
