- Abington – Senior Transportation – BAT
Brockton Area Transport (BAT) serves the elderly and disabled population in Brockton, Abington, Avon, Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Stoughton, Whitman and parts of Easton, Hanson and Rockland. BAT operates a fleet of modern mini-buses, that are specifically designed for the elderly and disabled, with wide doors, high roofs, low enclosed steps, and comfortable climate controlled ride. You can use BAT to go shopping, to the doctor, and visit friends anywhere within the City of Brockton as well as limited service in Easton, Stoughton, Abington, Whitman, and Avon traveling within 3/4 of a mile of the regular scheduled fixed route bus. To arrange a trip call BAT before 4:00 p.m., at least one day in advance or contact the Abington Council on Aging (COA) for for trip reservation. Times may vary. If you are 65 or older the fare is $3:00 each way within the same community and $4:00 from one Dial-A-Bat community to another.

The Stoughton Council on Aging runs many programs including Exercise Classes, Games Days, Social and Instructional get togethers, Elderly Services Lunch and Meals on Wheels, etc. - Stoughton – Foot Care
Foot Care for Seniors is provided by nurses trained in the needs of the elderly on the First Monday of the month from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM for $28. At home foot care is provided for $45. Call the Stoughton COA at (781) 344-8882 for an appointment.
- Stoughton – Senior Classes and Activities
The Stoughton COA organizes senior activities and classes including Bananagrams, BINGO, Duplicate Bridge, Birthday Party Tuesday, Breakfast Club, Bunny’s Ladies Breakfast, Come Color, Knitting, Crocheting, Movies, and Quilting. - Stoughton – Senior Exercise Classes
The Stoughton COA organizes senior exercise classes including Forever Fit, Movin & Groovin, Senior Fitness, Strength Training, Tai Chi and Walking Club. Exercise Program Passes - 12 Class pass for $25 $2.50 punch per class and includes two free classes with no expiration; and a Monthly Pass for $25 that expires at the end of the month. Passes are required to participate. The first class is free for new students. The instructor will punch the pass at the start of class. Use your COA pass on Wednesdays at the Stoughton YMCA for Fitness Activities. Passes will not be punched at the YMCA. Please contact the Stoughton COA for more information at (781) 344-8882.
- Stoughton – Senior Transportation
Medical Transportation - Stoughton senior citizens age 60 and over and people with disabilities are encouraged to use our Medical Transportation Service. Medical Transportation including wheel chair transport is available to Avon, Brockton, Canton, Easton, Randolph, Sharon and Stoughton. The fee for transportation is $2.50 each way. Tickets are sold 6 rides for $15 and 12 rides for $30. All passengers must have a ticket when boarding our vehicles. Their Medical Transportation Service is offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM and Friday, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
Transportation to the senior center daily for lunch is free.
Transportation for Grocery Shopping is offered on Tuesday mornings for $2.50 each way.
Transportation to the Food Pantry on Park Avenue is available for Stoughton senior residents and disabled residents that do not drive. Transportation is free.

- Stoughton – Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone – SHINE
SHINE counselors provide free, unbiased health insurance counseling for Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers. SHINE counselors are trained by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. A SHINE Counselor is available on the 1st Thursday every month. Call the Stoughton COA at (781) 344-8882 to schedule an appointment. There is no cost for this service and all information is strictly confidential.
- Stoughton – Smoke/CO Detectors Installation Program
The Stoughton Council on Aging and Stoughton Fire Department will install Smoke/CO Detectors for Stoughton seniors. Smoke/CO Detectors have been provided by the American Red Cross. Please call the COA to make an appointment for installation. There is no charge for this program. Contact the Stoughton COA for more information at (781) 344-8882.
