Appointments are available for the following services for Milton residents age 60 or older: Free, one-time Legal consultation with a volunteer Elder Law Attorney; Free, one-time Financial consultation with a volunteer Financial Advisor; Information and application for the town's Senior Tax Work-off Program; Fuel Assistance information; appointments available for a home visit to complete an application for those 60 or older who are homebound Nov. 1-April 1 yearly; Referrals to appropriate resources serving elder needs with financial or legal issues. The Outreach team provides the personal link between Milton seniors and their families to appropriate community services, benefits, and programs. Appointments may be scheduled for home or office visits at the Senior Center. Confidentiality is always a priority. Services include Information and referrals, Assistance and clarification of elder services, Telephone reassurance and home visits, Diabetes Support Group, Low Vision Support Group, Monthly programs focusing on various health issues, Weight Loss Support Group, Parkinson Support Group and Advocacy assistance. The Milton Council on Aging provides varies senior fitness and exercise programs including Arthritic Exercise, Chair Exercise, Dance, Fit to Lose, Strength Training, Swimmercise (seasonal), Tai Chi, Walking Group, Wii Bowling, Yoga, Zumba Gold, Pickleball, Reflexology, and Walkathon. - Milton – Senior Transportation
The Milton Council on Aging provides transportation for medical Appointments including Physical Therapy, Cancer Treatments, Dentist, Podiatrist, and Eye Exams requiring dilation of pupils. Procedures requiring anaesthesia/sedation will require a family member or companion to accompany the rider. Grocery shopping trips are available. Forty-eight hour advance notice is advised. To schedule transportation or if you have any questions, please call 617-898-4893. The Milton COA can set up a home visit with a member of the Outreach team in order to best explain the service and safely accommodate your needs.
- Milton – Serving Health Insurance Needs Of Elders – SHINE
SHINE counselors provide free, unbiased health insurance counseling for Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers. SHINE counselors are trained by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Call the center at 617-898-4893 to schedule an appointment. Van transportation is available. There is no cost for this service and all information is strictly confidential.
- Quincy – Medical Transportation Program
Free medical transportation for seniors is provided for City-Wide seniors to medical establishments within the City of Quincy, or all major Boston Hospitals, Milton Hospital, Carney Hospital and Neponset Health Center. Eight vans are used to provide services, a two-week prior notice is preferred, but program will make every effort to accommodate those with shorter notice.
